Application of T-bills from banks
Other then application of T-bills from POEMs, we can bid for T-bill from banks too. Here are the procedures to bid for T-bills for newbies from DBS bank (can also buy from OCBC & UOB):
1. On Thu afternoon check http://www.sgs.gov.sg/ and copy down Issue/ISIN codes and issue date
2. Goto a big DBS branch and ask the staff you want "To bid for new SGS Treasury Bills"
3. You will need to fill 2 forms, one is security account and one for deducting funds from DBS account
4. Fill in ssue/ISIN codes, issue date and how much you want to bid (in $1,000s)
5. You can select "non-Competitive" or "Competitive" bid, if donno select "non-Competitive"
6. The bank will process your forms (fax your bid to MAS)
7. DBS will not earmark anything from your account (UOB/OCBC will earmark 10-100% first)
8. On next Monday afternoon, check the yields from http://www.sgs.gov.sg/ and call DBS to check if your bids are accepted
9. You should ensure that your funds are in your DBS account on next Thu
10. DBS will try to deduct your $ in the morning and if failed, DBS will try to deduct in the afternoon
11. If not sufficient fund, DBS will charge you OD rate or DBS will advise you to sell the TBILL to them
12. If the yield is 99.232% (or 3.08%pa) and you bid for $10,000, you only need to pay $9923.2013. When T-bills mature in 3 months, $10,000 will be credited into your DBS account
